An American photographer based in northern Italy, Kara Marie Trombetta celebrates her 16 year career that encompasses her roles as both a privately-commissioned photographer, and a photography business educator and coach.

“I work to grant my muses the permission to be fully and naturally themselves without layers to hide behind, without the need for a glamorous makeover or extreme retouching, and also without the pressure to act provocatively. We can be sexy, yes. We are also intelligent, introspective, resilient, strong, funny, powerful, and emotional. I work to help my clients discover and celebrate their confidence. Limiting that expression of confidence to merely sexuality is doing a great disservice to the multitude of characteristics that one is comprised of. This is why I am working to redefine boudoir photography from a style that is traditionally intended to be stereotypically sexual for a very narrowly defined demographic, to an evolved narrative that is more of an artistic expression of the human spirit in its most honest natural form. I encourage a dialogue that emphasizes that everyone is a masterpiece.”

Teri Hofford is a body image educator, photographer & author who encourages folks to challenge their body image biases & beliefs so they can move closer to self and body acceptance. “For the last 7 years I focused on using the genre of boudoir to help folks recognize that they were capable of being photographed – while it taught me a lot, over time I realized I was still part of the very problem I was fighting against. Just like I do with clients, I started to strip down my processes, revealing why I had started in the first place: To let folks know that they were perfect as they were and that version was worthy of documentation – without fuss, without excess, without distraction.”

Our Testimonials

I’ve had the opportunity to learn from Teri in person at a workshop, via one on one mentoring and have purchased her (AMAZING) guides, I would do it all over again + again! Teri is an exceptional human who kicks your ass into gear in the most loving (and hysterical) way possible.
Morgan Lennon
Finding Teri as a budding boudoir photographer what exactly the person I needed to find. Her perspective was refreshing, unique and the right dose of no bullshit that pushed me into doing the challenging, hard things that would ultimately come to revolutionize not only my business but also the way I see and treat myself. For a long time, I said that when I grow up I wanna be Teri. I’ve come to realize that’s no longer true. When I grow up, I wanna be me. And despite having never actually MET Teri, her advocacy, education, talks, and endless resources are paving the way for me to reach myself and my highest potential. I have an enormous amount of gratitude for her work — thank you thank you.
Meagan Elemens
I stumbled upon Teri’s photography through a Facebook group that recommended her for learning how to better pose women. After following her group for awhile, I was amazed at her ability to not only pose but be so inclusive and amazing. I just wanted to absorb as much as I could. She is definitely someone I strive to be like in this world of Photographers. She is changing the world and being an amazing teacher along the way!
Paula Ayres
I’ve attended two workshops led by Teri. And in those 8 days I’ve learned so much about the business side of things as well as taken away a new found confidence. Her knowledge of body image is vast and informative and has helped me better serve and connect with my clients. I’ve gained a lot from Tough Love Teri as she so aptly calls herself. It’s super refreshing being led and mentored by someone so down to earth. Teri asks the tough questions and asks you to think critically and thoughtfully. Then she’ll give you the space you need to be yourself and thrive.
